Uzbekistan surpassed all Central Asian countries at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing 13th place in the overall medal standings. The team’s haul includes 13 medals: 8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze, strengthening Uzbekistan's position in international sports.
Leading the charge were Uzbek boxers, who clinched five of the eight gold medals. Champions include Hasanboy Dusmatov (51 kg), Abdumalik Khalokov (57 kg), Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev (71 kg), Lazizbek Mullojonov (92 kg), and Bakhodir Jalolov (over 92 kg).

Uzbekistan’s taekwondo team also contributed to the medal tally, with Ulugbek Rashitov winning gold in the 68 kg category and Svetlana Osipova earning a silver medal in the 67 kg category. Akbar Djuraev added to the silver count in weightlifting (102 kg).
While Uzbekistan excelled, United States maintained its lead in the medal count with 90 medals, followed by the China and Japan. Neighboring Kazakhstan placed 41st with a total of 7 medals.
The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) members and observers, including Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, made a strong impact at the Paris Olympics. These countries collectively won 61 medals, including 16 gold.
Uzbekistan's athletes, who brought honor to the nation and achieved a historic result at the 2024 Olympics, are set to receive a hero's welcome upon their return. Arriving in Tashkent on August 12, these champions will be greeted with a ceremony, where citizens and officials will express their appreciation for the athletes' achievements.
2024 Olympic Boxing Tournament: Successes of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
The boxing tournament at the 2024 Olympics concluded with Uzbekistan emerging as a strong force. Uzbek boxers claimed gold in five categories, while their Kazakh counterparts faced tougher competition, securing only one silver medal through Nurbek Oralbay (80 kg).
In the women's boxing tournament, Kazakhstan's Nazym Kyzaibay managed to earn a bronze medal in the 50 kg category, while her teammates Karina Ibragimova (57 kg) and Valentina Khalzova (75 kg) were unable to reach the podium.
