The 12th East Turkestan Brotherhood Meeting and the 3rd East Turkestan National Unity Consultative Conference organized by the International Association of East Turkestan Organizations and East Turkestan Education and Solidarity Association started successfully on September 26 in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.
Activists, opinion leaders, religious scholars, intellectuals, and representatives of political entities from Turkey, European countries, Central Asian Republics and the United States are participating in the three-day conference.
At the opening ceremony on the first day, Hidayet Oghuzhan, Chairman of the East Turkistan Education and Assistance Association, and other representatives of various organizations delivered opening speeches. Dolkun Isa, Chairman of the World Uyghur Congress, Rushan Abbas, the founder of the Campaign for Uyghurs, and representatives of the Australian Uyghur organizations expressed their congratulations via video. The Deputy Director of the Turkish Immigration Bureau specially attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The first session of the conference, experts and intellectuals made speeches on topics like US-China relations, Turkey-China relations, current situation and future of East Turkistan campaign. At the second session, current economic and other challanges faced by Uyghurs were discussed.
This three-day conference will end on September 28th. The experts and representatives participating in the conference will discuss about the current status of East Turkistan issue, future developments on the international stage, cooperation among various organizations and other related topics.
