CAIR Welcomes DHS Banning 2 Chinese Companies Over Uyghur Slave Labor

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) banning two Chinese companies over their reported use of Uyghur slave labor. 

Homeland Security blacklisted Chinese steel company Baowu Group Xinjiang Bayi Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and artificial sweetener business Changzhou Guanghui Food Ingredients Co., Ltd. under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List.

“We welcome the banning of these companies and all others who seek to profit from the Chinese government’s enslavement and genocide of Muslim Uyghurs,” said CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.

He noted that CAIR has previously welcomed the banning of Chinese companies using slave labor.
