Turkistan Times; Istanbul – The Second East Turkistani Islamic Studies Students' Symposium was held in Istanbul.
The Second East Turkistani Islamic Studies Students' Academic Symposium took place in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday, May 4th, hosted by Sabahattin Zaim University. This symposium provided an important platform for East Turkistani Master's and Doctoral students studying in the field of Islamic Studies at various universities in Turkey to share their academic research findings.
The symposium was organized by the students themselves under the guidance of the East Turkistan Scholars Union and was attended by numerous religious figures, academics, university students, and scholars from Istanbul.
Following a recitation from the Holy Quran, opening speeches were delivered by prominent figures including Professor Dr. Nurahmet Kurban, a lecturer at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, and Associate Professor Dr. Alimjan Bughda, Chairman of the East Turkistan Scholars Union and a lecturer at Istanbul Medeniyet University. They emphasized the significance of this academic event and the importance of supporting and encouraging young researchers.
The symposium was conducted in three sessions of academic presentations. Ten East Turkistani students pursuing Master's and Doctoral degrees at prestigious Turkish universities presented their academic research papers on topics including Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis), Islamic Philosophy, Arabic Language, Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence), History of Islamic Sects, Quranic Studies, the scholarly heritage of historical Uyghur scholars, and current social issues. Following their presentations, they answered questions from the attendees.
According to observers, such academic symposiums play an active role in enhancing the academic capabilities of the young generation of East Turkistanis in diaspora, particularly students in the field of Islamic Studies. They also strengthen communication and cooperation among them, and help align their research directions with societal needs.
At the conclusion of the symposium, students who presented papers were given incentive awards and souvenirs prepared by the East Turkistan Scholars Union. This was seen as an expression of the Scholars Union's appreciation for the academic work of young researchers and its commitment to supporting them.
